1-2 July 2023, Group Exhibition

“A house is not a home” Ocean Shores, NSW

A group of local artists have come together to re-examine and challenge the conventional notion of ‘Home’ and celebrate our flood-affected house on the brink of demolition.

This exhibition is a gesture of hope, resilience and creative transformation and aims to support the community by re-imagining the meaning of ‘Home’ as we look towards the future after the 2022 floods.

We invite you to join us and immerse yourself in an array of artworks, music and site-specific art installations, many created especially for this event.

Site specific installation

From the Cambridge Dictionary: “If you are in the bosom of a group of people, especially your family, you are with them and protected and loved by them.”

The front door of a house commonly speaks very little of the home humans have made within. With Into the bosom I have attempted to portray the personality a house takes on when people inhabit its insides.

We fill the rooms with our hopes and dreams and the front door is the entry point to the love within as well as the protector from the outside world. You must be invited and when you enter you are granted access to a sacred space within the bosom of the home.

This home is movable and the spirit of the home is not bound to its walls even though memories can linger in the corners like cobwebs long after the house has emptied.
